For lunch today I made grilled cheese sandwiches with soup and salad. I didn't want the same boring grilled cheese consisting of 2 slices of bread, cheese, and buttered on the outside for that crunchy grilled crust. This time I added a little bit of stone ground mustard, 2 slices of ham and a whole onion-caramelized, after I sliced it of course. It turned out really good. A nice change from the same ol' grilled cheese. Looking for a quick simple lunch using staple food items? Give this sweet, onion-y grilled ham and cheese sandwich a try. Enjoy!

Ingredients:
2 slices rye bread
Muenster cheese
cheddar cheese
stone ground mustard
1 small onion - caramelized
butter (for grilling)
Few deli ham slices

Directions:
You know how to make a grilled cheese!

My First Blog

Here is the plan. I will post...
  • Recipes
  • Websites I like that others may find interesting too
  • Funny stories
  • Nutrition tips and advice
  • Anything else I think of later
To start, yesterday Rachel, Jeff and I were at a Koney Island Restaurant for $0.99 Coney Dogs. Not a good choice I know but it was cheap, greasy and delicious. I was hoping there was a green vegetable option to go along with my dog besides a salad since I eat salad for lunch every day. I asked the waitress and she replied "our vegetable of the day is CORN". Fine, I'll go vegetableless for dinner tonight. I mean, I already had french fries and a bun and didn't really need to add another carbohydrate to my dinner plate. Rachel was nice enough to give me a few onions that had fallen onto her plate. I guess those were my veggies for the night. Good times.
